#OOTDsketches (38)

Throughout the week make a quick sketch of what I am wearing on that particular day, either as a warm-up or just to keep me loose if I don't have a lot of time to draw.  These drawings are then scanned and posted on my blog every Wednesday.  Enjoy!

It was cold enough to start breaking out the wool sweaters and scarfs—specifically the purple scarfs, I'm not exactly sure why I'm in the mood for purple lately!

Recognize this outfit?  It's a revision of last week's favorite!  Same sweater and scarf, this time with a pencil skirt for work.

A Harvest Occasion

Back in September, I was asked to do a quick illustration for a harvest event at the church I grew up in.  Every year they throw a trunk-o-treat, where the cars are parked in the parking lot and everyone hands candy out of the back.  It's a lot of fun, and a great alternative for those with scare-easy kiddos (like I was! ...am).  There is also a lot of food and games for the whole family to enjoy.

This year their theme is God's Harvest, and this is what we came up with:

We also decided on a dark background version for some of the printed media:

Were you easily spooked when you were young? Or were you a daredevil from the get-go?

Etsy Update: Botanical Memory Verses

Here is a little collection that I created for myself over the past few weeks or so.  I've had a few verses, hymns and songs on my heart and mind and so they made their way into my personal art.
For example, I needed a more constant reminder that I don't have to be "good enough"—that before I even knew Jesus as my Lord and Savior, He died for me.  His Grace and sacrifice is sufficient!  So the first card was born—displaying the main section of the verse, while having the entire verse on the back for reference.
This experiment was shortly followed by a few others and before you know it, my desk and home are littered with beautified verses.

Now I want to share a few with you, my friends.  And I am offering the 3 prints above in my etsy shop!  Be sure to check it out here.

OOTDsketches (37)

Throughout the week make a quick sketch of what I am wearing on that particular day, either as a warm-up or just to keep me loose if I don't have a lot of time to draw.  These drawings are then scanned and posted on my blog every Wednesday.  Enjoy!

Left:: Still loving this blue on blue combo—and my students seem to like it, so that's a bonus ;)  Kiddos like bright colors, who knew?
Right::  Another color combo that I am currently loving and plan to recreate very soon!  I love this bright mulberry colored scarf with my navy sweater—I can't believe I almost ripped it out (I made the scarf last year)!

Soon to Leaf

I am infatuated with the fall colors right now—they are bouncing around between peak time and "dead time".  And since I tend to kinda hate the bare-naked tree look, I am soaking up as much color and life as I can!
So when in doubt, I'm drawing leaves.  I've also loved the idea of the colored leaves overlapping and the colors showing through as though they were semi-transparent.  I already played around with this for the October calendar, but can't seem to quite hit the breaks on this thought just yet :)

FabHER Friday Linkup: Mr & Mrs

Welcome to "FabHER Fridays"! A wonderful opportunity for the lovely ladies of the blogosphere to share a post and make some friends while gaining additional exposure for their blogs. This linkup is open to everyone—from fashion to art (like me!), health to lifestyle, fitness to beauty.  All are welcome!

I originally created this piece for myself—I'd love to have something lovely hanging above our bed, but I can never bring myself to spend the money on something large and lovely.  Plus, I seem to have a commitment issue with this kind of thing (thankfully, that was not the case with the actual Mr ;) )
So I created this little piece instead—which eventually gave birth to my "kitchen art" piece from earlier this week.  I ended up really liking that piece, but this one?  It's just not hitting the mark for me.  I think I'll have to give it another try... maybe with a slightly bolder "&"?
I don't know, what do you think?  Help!
