Clinging to Summertime

While I have a special love for the brisk air of fall, I'm having trouble saying "goodbye" to summer.
After an unusually cold summer, I am not exactly jumping up and down at the idea of wearing sweaters and ... okay, I'm not opposed to scarfs at the moment, but I'm not ready to need them, you know?

I'm trying to keep a good attitude and soak up every last ounce of warmth I can before the chill becomes a freeze!
Here's to the upcoming close to picnics, watermelon, tank tops and cookouts.

#OOTDsketches (31)

Throughout the week make a quick sketch of what I am wearing on that particular day, either as a warm-up or just to keep me loose if I don't have a lot of time to draw.  These drawings are then scanned and posted on my blog every Wednesday.  Enjoy!

 

 Left::  Still embracing the blue on blue trend from last week, this time with a light blue, asymmetrical leather jacket and my (current) favorite royal blue skater dress.
Right:: Back to school for the second week and trying to impress my students with all sorts of obedient feelings.  Was I successful?  Only time will tell!

Parent orientation found me in the same boat as all of the other special teachers—in my room, largely alone! haha, but it' a good excuse to dress up and scrape the acrylic paint off my fingernails.

Not According to Plan

I had plans for this week.  Big plans.

Well, biggish plans.

Either way, those plans have been placed on hold for the time being.

I (finally) received my new computer shortly before we lost power on Friday night.
Saturday.  Woke up without power and a small cold for both of us (hubbard and I).  Our landlord hooked up a generator for our fridge so we could head out of town without fearing for all of our food.
Sunday.  Still no power and must more aggressive colds had settled in.  Escape to the parental units for power and warm food.
Monday. Colds are worse, but we're back to work anyway.  Still no power so I am currently trying to adjust to my new laptop while working off of last night's charge before heading to a Panera for hot soup, electricity and wifi!

Overall we are rather content, even without electricity.  However, the colds are pushing us to long for warm soup/tea in our own homes and I really wish I could do my hair! haha
Unfortunately, my scanner also runs on electricity... so, today's post has been pushed off until further notice.  Maybe tomorrow?

I'm hopeful!

We started working with students this last week! The Hubbard and I forgot to take a "first day of school" picture so we settled for a back-to-school selfie instead.  I wore a blue on blue get up inspired by the lovely J (see post here), a blogger that I really love. (and have Blogstalked here)

Left:: Feeling extra girly with my favorite peach flared skirt and switching things up a bit by pairing it with my dark green sweater.  Gold accents and a white lace shirt?  The art teacher is ready for school!
Right:: I love this purple blouse, but it needs to be very patiently ironed every time that I wear it, so this lazy girl doesn't get to wear it very often.

Free Calendar:: September 2014

September is here at last. This past month as been filled first with suspense as we prepared for the new school year and then chaos as we dove in head first!  What I am looking forward to most in the month of September, is a regular schedule forming again.  It is always a little chaotic with school, coaching, work and life, but at some point it feels "normal" again and I am eager to greet it!
