Branding: Capturing Creativity Photography

I was recently given the opportunity to work on a logo and identity system for a friend who is starting up her photography business!  She is very naturally creative as well as a fellow advocate for all things girly—I knew this assignment would be fun and I couldn't wait to work on it!

Based on the inspiration images that Ashley sent my way, I create a few logo variations for her—a few of which are illustrated for you below:

After she chose the logo that she wanted, we worked with further—implementing her color scheme and various aspects of the logo to create a final logo and eventually an identity system.

Every couple of days I make a quick sketch of what I am wearing for the day, either as a warm-up or just to keep me loose if I don't have a lot of time to draw.  These drawings are scanned and posted on my blog every Wednesday.  Enjoy!

Left:: Still in love with this dress that I got from Italy 2 years ago—and pairing it with a polka-dot button down is a great way to switch it up!
Right:: Went to celebrate my baby sister's birthday!  We ate out and I don't get along with air conditioning (always too cold in restaurants!), so my cotton blazer did the trick!  So comfy

Left:: Went to see another house, and walked away disappointed.  Our house hunting is coming to a close for now—with school and cross country starting, we have very little extra time to even go see a house, let alone move!
Right:: Feeling nautical on this day with my navy stripes and bright red lips.  Loving this Tshirt from a recent Target visit.

Sketchbook:: Bocce Ball

Bocce Ball anyone?

Soaking up all of my extra "for fun" drawing time before school starts up again next week.  Also practicing some more with digital illustration techniques.  Unfortunately, the Arborshire did not have "illustration" classes specifically—which is what I really wanted to study—so all of my progress has been self taught.

It's not perfect by any means, but I'm learning and it's getting easier!

Sketchbook:: A Feminine Musketeer

I have been listening to Alexandre Dumas' "The Three Musketeers" for the past couple of weeks and I am absolutely loving it!  I thought I had read it before, but apparently my recording was quite minimal because I only got so far as the success story of the Queen's diamonds!  Needless to say, I was quite surprised when it turned out that this part of the story was only about a quarter of the way through the actual book.

During my time with my parents a couple of weeks ago, I took some time to draw out a female version of a grand Musketeer and had a blast with it!  Luckily, I had enough time to color this week so that I can share it with all of you!

Left:: NEW SKIRT!!!  Aaahhh!  Loving my new peach skater skirt—and constantly trying to find excuses to wear it again.  You're going to see it here quite a few times in the future!
Right:: Chilly, lazy day working at home.  Hubby was working on the final paper for his master's class so I was just trying to stay out of his way and get my own work done.

Seriously, why is it so cold??  July 29th found me in a knit sweater, jeans and suede pumps, trying to stay cheerful while hard at work during the freak chill.

Sketchbook: Todd Fishing

Spent some time watching Todd fish last night.  It was good to have some time to rest and relax on the lake.  While he chased the fish, I spent some time drawing—rather difficult since the dock we were sitting/standing on floated and rocked with the waves.  Also, the stinker kept moving around while I was trying to draw him ;)

Sketch Dailies: "Nike", goddess of victory

Sketch Dailies is a twitter / instagram group that posts a topic each day and artists from all over the world participate by creating their own version of the inspiration piece.  I've been following around for a little while and have really enjoyed the variety and humor that the different artists represent.  This past week I finally decided to join in and create my own sketch of "Nike" the Greek goddess of victory.

I had a lot of fun with this piece and wanted to share it with you.
