The Many Faces of an Elementary (Art) Teacher

For those of you who don't know, I'm a part time elementary art teacher.  Much of the time, I love it! some of the time? ...I'm not feeling the love!
The students can really make or break a class/day/week, and since this week was particularly difficult (more so at the beginning than the end), I decided to poke some fun at myself by making the series of sketches above. It's amazing how quickly the expressions will switch during a class period—it's always fun to watch my co-workers on task (not always as funny to experience it myself! haha).

If nothing else, after drawing a few "faces", I was able to leave with a smile back on my face and a sense of humor in working order.

OOTDsketches (3)

 Another week has come and gone—here's a peak into my closet and life:
Scarf: Italy; Sweater: American Eagle;
Jeans: gap curvy; shoes: Kelly&Katie by DSW

President's Day and our first official day of break.  Can I just say that even though we stayed home (in the cold), it was a really great week??  SO great to recharge a little, and just get some things done around the house.

top: target; jeans: gap's sexy boot; socks: target?
Kind of a lazy day.  Intended to go out, but ended up staying around the house in some patterned knee-high socks and bright read lipstick.  No complaints ;)

Dress made skirt: target; Sweater: NY&C;
booties: Kelly&Katie by DSW
Tax day!  Not tons of fun, but so nice to have it done and off the mind for another year or so.  This is what I would definitely say is the not fun part of running a personal business: legal/tax stuff.  Anyway, this outfit appeared earlier and will likely come again and again—BECAUSE I LOVE IT!  I would wear it every day if that was socially acceptable.

Cardigan: TJmax; Sweater: target;
Jeans: gap sexy boot; socks:??
Another day working at home.  I had some client work to do and the icy roads kept us from the "adventure" we were hoping to have.  Love the flow of this cardigan, it almost makes me feel elegant as I trip / slouch around the house.  Still trying the red lip, but not sold.
And yes, I do often stand in this fashion with one foot on the side... I'm going to go lame one of these days!

Sweater: Kohls?; Jeans: Gap curvy;
Slippers: target
A long car ride to drop off some of my husband's artwork in a State wide show, then a visit with the in-laws. I noticed that the past 2 or 3 times that we have visited them, I have worn this sweater... might be time to mix it up a bit!

OOTD : January 2014

Sick day.  Didn't get much done, the goal was simple: comfort!

Working from home

 Back at the school—didn't color this one, but I've got to get a colored version of this up because I love everything about this outfit!  If there was one that I would consider my "signature", this would.be.it.
I want to wear it every day.

Blog Stalking: The Lauren Elizabeth

This episode of "Blog Stalking" features another fashion blog that I frequent—The Lauren Elizabeth blog.

Left: Pencil sketch by Katrina Crouch
Right: Photo from The Lauren Elizabeth blog

While her style is not always right in line with my own (I tend to be more girly and classic, while she dives into more trendy styles), her general creativity, interest in interior design and sense of humor keep me coming back for more!
Also, she shops both at high end stores and "normal" stores (target, h&m, ect), making my regular stalking habits more excusable ;)

Interested in getting your own portrait drawn/painted by yours truly?  YOU CAN!  Right here!

All opinions, along with the sketch, are my own.  The Lauren Elizabeth does not even know that I am doing this!
